General Questions

When is the best time to reserve a date for my session?

Now! Really…I’d say as soon as possible so that you can be placed on the schedule.  I typically book portrait sessions 4-6 weeks out and weddings 6 months to a year out. (With the exception of fall…if you want fall book asap, it fills up the fastest).

Do you offer digital media and or prints?

Yes and Yes!!  Each package includes some digital media along with your session. Digital media will be available for download through your online gallery.  Not only do I offer a HUGE variety of prints, albums,  and wall art, I recommend them because they are so darn pretty!  You will notice a quality difference between mine and the prints ordered from your chain stores.

What rights do I have to the digital media?

You have the right to reprint images whenever and wherever you want. However, you may not sell your images for a profit or publish your images without written consent from BE MERRY PHOTOGRAPHY.

When will I receive my photos?

I do my very best to deliver your images  within 2-3 weeks, (With the exception of fall which has a longer delivery time because it is the busiest season).  All sessions will be provided an online gallery (password protected) where you will have access to view, download your digital media, and order prints, albums, or wall art.  I do post sneaks and teasers from your sessions as I am working on them so like my BE MERRY PHOTOGRAPHY  Facebook page or follow me on Instagram!

What should I/we wear to a portrait session?

It is best to keep clothing simple.  Avoid logos or super busy patterns (I love some patterns, just not too many).  I always suggest layers/textures in group photos.  Color coordinating is always more pleasing to the eye, but I would avoid all matching apparel. I think it is important that you wear clothes that represent you, and something you feel amazing in!! Feel free to bring a change of clothes and accessories to change your look quickly.

When do we pay you?

50% of the session fee is due upon scheduling.  An online invoice will be sent at the time of booking.  Deposit is required to reserve session date and time.  The remaining 50% is due at the session.

What type of payment do you accept?

Cash, Check, Chase Quick Pay, and Paypal.  Whichever is more convenient for you!

What should we bring to a portrait session?

For a family or children photo session, outfit changes, a drink, snack (reward), favorite toy, stuffed animal etc. Please make sure your little one has been fed and had a nap (if they take them) before the photo session for a more positive experience.  The happier the child, the better experience you will have!

Where will the photos be taken? Do you have a studio?

I am an on location, natural light photographer.  The location of a portrait session is up to you.  If you need some suggestions, I have many favorite places to shoot in Fort Wayne and the surrounding areas.  Specials and Mini session days will be pre-scheduled locations.

Weddings

Do you travel or do destination weddings? What additional fees are associated with destination weddings?

Yes, I do travel!! ( Traveling has a soft spot in my heart).  Destination Wedding Packages are simply my standard wedding packages plus the cost of travel and accommodations if necessary.

Do you provide partial day coverage?

I do not provide partial day Wedding coverage.  I do have one wedding package for five hours which is perfect for elopements.

Do you have a second shooter available for our Wedding Day?

Yes, I do have an associate photographer who shoots with me at most weddings.  Check out the wedding packages for more details about hiring a second shooter.

How many images do we receive, and do you deliver every image you take?

I do not guarantee a specific amount of photos, rather I shoot to make sure all the details of your special day are covered and the whole story is documented from beginning to end.  I promise you will have more photos than you will know what to do with!  I do not deliver every photo I take.  I eliminate duplicate images, test shots, missed focused shots, shots with bad expression, and other images that may dilute the overall product delivery.  All pictures that you receive will be professionally edited, provided to you in an assortment of black/white and color images.

How do we reserve our Wedding date? When do we pay you?

Your wedding date will be reserved once I receive your signed contract and deposit.  For an inquiry about a wedding date email me at Jessica@bemerryphoto.com.

When will we receive our wedding photos?

I do my very best to deliver your images within 4-6 weeks, (With the exception of fall which has a longer delivery time because it is the busiest season).   All weddings will be provided an online gallery (password protected) where you will have access to view, download your digital media, and order prints, albums, or wall art.  I do post a preview gallery of your wedding day on social media within a few days after your wedding so like my BE MERRY PHOTOGRAPHY  Facebook page or follow me on Instagram or the blog!

Do you recommend unplugged wedding ceremonies?

I do!!  Not only are unplugged ceremonies currently the trending thing, they ensure that my shots (the ones you are paying for) are not going to be blocked by a person standing in the isle with their Iphone or ruined by someone else’s flash.  Don’t be afraid to ask your guests to enjoy themselves and the ceremony in real time and leave the photography to me!

When should we schedule our engagement session?

I encourage you to set up your engagement session as soon as possible. This way you can plan ahead for the season you want!  The latest I would suggest is eight weeks prior to the wedding.

How should I plan for our engagement shoot? How long are sessions? What should we wear?

In preparation for your engagement session, you will complete a pre-wedding questionnaire.  Sessions usually last around 2 hours and include one to three locations of your choice.   Try to think of your favorite places to go as a couple or your favorite things to do together. If you need some suggestions, I have many favorite places to shoot in Fort Wayne and the surrounding areas.  The same rule applies to apparel for your engagement session, wear something that reflects you and something that you feel amazing in!!  Two to three outfits is normal for an engagement session and I usually recommend a business/casual (dressier, not a pant suit) outfit and one  more casual outfit.  Again, I always recommend accessories, they can make for a quick change in the look of an outfit!!

Newborn Sessions

When is the best time for my newborn session?

Definitely within the first 14 days of life for your little one.  This is how we get those adorable poses, the little one is so incredibly sleepy that they will let us move them around!

When should I contact you to book my newborn session?

I highly recommend contacting me during your pregnancy to start the booking process.  Although, I make every effort to fit in last minute newborn session requests, my schedule fills up quickly and it can sometimes be difficult to do so. I set aside a set number of newborn session openings a month, once those are taken, I do not accept anymore.  A 50% deposit and signed contract is required to get your session penciled in on the calendar around your due date.  This deposit guarantees you a session around your due date. (The remaining balance is due at the session.) Once you are on the calendar, you will be given priority after your baby arrives and we will be sure to schedule your session within 10-14 days postpartum.  If your baby has already been born, I still encourage you to call or email and inquire about a session as I do try to accommodate each newborn inquiry when possible.

How do we prepare for our newborn session?

First, I will send you a Newborn Pre-Session Questionnaire to complete. If possible,  do this prior to your little one being born. You will receive some guidelines and ways to help your session go as smoothly as possible prior to your session.

Once our baby is born, what should I do?

Once your little one is here, have someone contact us as soon as possible so that we can select a date for your session.  To ensure those cute, cuddly poses, we want the scheduling to be done within those first 14 days. This is when we will finalize the date and time of your session.

Where do you photograph your newborn sessions?

I photograph newborn sessions in my home, or I will sometimes travel to your home. I have a newborn studio in my home filled with lots of props and equipment. I cannot begin to pack all of that up so if you want more portrait style photography, it will be in my studio.   I will travel to your home for lifestyle Newborn sessions only.

What should we expect at a newborn session?

Plan for the session to last anywhere from two to three hours.  When you arrive, we will look over some of the items I have chosen ahead of time and anything special you have brought.  We will review the Newborn Pre-Session Questionnaire you completed, and any pose requests you have.  The session will be built around the baby.  If he or she is fussy we will take time to rock, feed, and soothe the baby.  Those sweet, squishy poses are done in a a deep sleep so we will be patient for that.  There will be downtime while we are waiting for the little one to be camera ready again.

Do we need to bring props?

No, I have a wide variety of of props and accessories available for your use including hats, headbands, outfits, baskets, buckets, you name it.  Most of the session, your little one will be sporting his or her birthday suit, but we will have accessory options for you to add.   After reviewing your Newborn Pre-Session Questionnaire, I will lay out props and backgrounds that match the colors and tones you are wanting.  You will have access to my collection so if you want something I didn’t lay out, just ask!   (Here is why it is important to complete the  questionnaire. If I travel to your house, I will bring three or four prop options based on the information you sent me.) I love it when families have  family heirlooms and props they would like to incorporate.  I always enjoy finding ways to incorporate unique parts of your family into your sessions.

Can we do portraits with siblings?

Absolutely! But I cannot guarantee it for every sibling.  We will try our best to make it happen, but as you know how unpredictable newborns and toddlers are, sometimes it just isn’t possible without tears.

Myself/my husband or wife want to be in some images, what should we wear?

I recommend neutral colors. Black, white, cream, gray, or tan. Solid colors. Simple and more fitted shirts work best.  Avoid patterns, we do not want the little one to get lost in all those patterns.

If the session is at BE MERRY PHOTOGRAPHY’S  (in home) studio, what should we bring?

Lots of diapers and wipes! You will be feeding too so lots of formula, a bottle,  or anything you need to breastfeed. (covers, pumps etc.) If you are nursing, be prepared to nurse a few times while you are here.  The temperature for newborn sessions is kept very warm.  Dress in layers, ( you will thank me for that tip!)

I want to capture the growth of my child’s first year, do you offer “Grow” packages? When do we pay for beMommy Packages?

Newborns are only that small for a short amount of time, so, I do offer two different “beMommy” package options to capture those milestones of the first year.   To receive the discounted rate on all the sessions, the package must be paid in full on the day of the first photo session.  Both packages guarantee a newborn session within 14 days of the birth.   The remaining sessions will be scheduled in the first available session time requested.  My calendar fills up 6 weeks out for the majority of the year, however, the fall season books  completely full 3-4 months out.  To guarantee you get a spot on the calendar around your requested date please, please schedule your sessions in advance.
