A few weeks back, some friends of mine were visiting and wanted to have some pictures of their daughter taken for her 1 year. I photographed their wedding in Michigan a few years ago…one of their wedding images still graces my home page slideshow to this day. During her session, Stella, was pretty much a professional model. It was clear that she loved to have her picture taken, and her mom loves to take her pictures. I have never had a child at that age want to sit and smile a beautiful smile over and over again. The best part of all of it, was every few images of her perfect little smile, she would stick her tongue out and give out this amazing joy and laughter.
During a session, my goal is to get images from three different sets or looks. That doesn’t always happen, it really depends on the child or baby, but its a goal. Sometimes, I am even able to get way more. For Stella’s sets, her parents brought a few outfits that they wanted to try to incorporate. The first set was a beautiful pastel outfit that worked wonderfully with her skin tones. These are some of my favorite images because the colors look so good on her. Her second set was another dress that mom brought and a black leather jacket that I loved. I have been wanting to schedule some glitter mini sessions, and still plan to sometime in the near future, so I talked Stella’s mom and dad into using some glitter for the second set. It was fun and I think definitely adds some pizzaz to that set. By the third set, Stella was over the picture taking fun, but her dad came in with the goldfish crackers to save the day. For the last set, we use one of my studio outfits from Whats Not To Love. We only took a few images with this set and called it a success! I love these images from her 1 year photo session!!
